All About The International Tourism Planning

The creation of plans and strategies in order of business is called planning. In a dynamic industry like tourism, planning is critical. International tourism planning is done with elements like environment, economy and social aspects of the world kept in mind.

What is tourism Planning?

Tourism planning is the process of determining the appropriate resources, programmes, and activities for individuals who are planning a trip based on their needs. Tourism planning is meant for both local residents and companies in the area and tourists who visit. It is the process of establishing objectives, determining a course of action, analysing, and implementing a strategy that will benefit tourism and its policies. It encompasses various factors such as social, economic, and environmental. It is the first and most crucial stage for any site to become a tourist attraction.

Why is Tourism Planning Important?

Planning is one of the most crucial aspects of any successful business. Tourism planning helps not only the tourists but also the service sectors and the social life of the destination.

Here are some benefits of tourism planning

  • Economical: With tourism planning, we can witness an increase in infrastructure development, more jobs, foreign currency earnings and growth in the income of the service sector.

  • Social: To understand the benefit of tourism planning for the sociocultural life of a destination, we should know that tourism development affects the life of those who live there. Tourism planning improves the understanding of the culture of a location among people, enhances people's day-to-day life, and develops pride among the residents.

  • Environmental: Tourism planning helps preserve a location's habitat, environmental education, and environmental improvement.

Types of Tourism Planning

1. Spatial Tourism: The space, as well as the environment of the tourist destination, is scrutinised in this planning to produce high-quality infrastructure and quantity in the area.

2. Complex Tourism: Complex tourism planning occurs when various sectors or regions work together to promote tourism and are taken into account for planning. These zones are usually geographically isolated, but they work together to promote tourism.

3. Centralised: When a single authority, generally the government, is in charge of tourism planning in order to promote tourism or preserve a destination's natural resources. The renovation of landmarks like the Red Fort is an example of centralised planning.

4. Decentralised: This type of tourism planning happens when groups with no centralised power collaborate to promote tourism. To fulfil their objectives, these groups rely on government aid and money. For example, there are licensed private airports in India, like the Chatrapati Shivaji Airport of Mumbai, controlled and developed by the Adani group.

International Tourism Planning

Tourism planning occurs mainly on four levels which are state, regional, national and international, but we will focus on international tourism planning. The international level of tourism planning is concerned with international transportation services like airlines, the development of tourism attractions, the strategy of promoting multi-national tourist destinations and the movement and flow of tourists around different countries.
